By the time I got back in the U.S. it was May and volcano corn riding season so Amar Andalkar, Estee and I threw all our gear in his car and started heading south to California.
Our first stop in the road trip was up to Paradise at Mount Rainier National Park.
It was another stunner day.
That night we decided to head south to Timberline at Mt. Hood.
The next morning we got up and waited until about 8AM before we started skinning past the resort.
We went up Hogback ridge than over to the Old Chute before summiting the peak.
The next stop on our road trip was the South Sister of 3 Sisters Wilderness in Central Oregon.
From the summit we got a great view South towards Bachelor.
Looking towards Broken Top
And the Middle and North Sister.
Then the day after that we climbed Mt. Shasta’s East face.
Summiting around 10:30 and waiting until noon.
It’s hard to beat 6,000 vertical feet of corn snow.
By riding fall line we had to hike an extra mile to get back on the trail but it was well worth it.
The next stop was Lassen National Park
The next morning we climbed the SE route via Bumpus Hell Parking lot
Summiting around an hour after we started climbing.
Amar’s interest was in riding the North Face.
And I followed him down.
So that he had help putting in the boot pack.
The North Face is definitely a classic.
On our way back north we decided to take a scenic route passing by Shasta.
Some Obsidian Flows
and a place called Glass Mountain.
Before heading North to Crater Lake to watch the sunset.
It was a rad road trip and something I have looked forward to over the years.
