Nerotinden is a hidden gem within the Tamokdalen Valley that doesn’t get any attention. Being hidden and out of view from most places people don’t really talk about or know much about the area. With a few kilometer approach from Tamok Camp it easy to get to and offers a few different aspects to ride on.
A Closer Look at Nerotinden
The photo below is a perfect view from the East on top of Tamokfjellet. On the left is Nerotinden while on the right is the backside to the main bowl behind Tamokhuset.
This is the sheltered Northeast bowl which runs through two small cliff bands but does go and is one of the last places to hold good snow with its shape catching wind loading from numerous directions.
This photo shows the North Ridge which is the easiest as well as closest ascent route to make it to the summit. If you look closely you can see our skin track all the way to the upper ridge.
This is looking at the Southwest face from the Southern Col by Brattlifjellet. While I haven’t climbed via this route it does seem doable.
Here is a better view of the Southwest face taken from a distance away. While the route seems easily climbable there are some massive cornices you definitely would not want to walk on when making your way up but that being said this looks like a sweet line to ride in the right conditions.
