Daltinden is a 1,533 meter peak located in the Southern Side of the Lyngen Alps of Norway. Having numerous different aspects to ski it is quite popular for ski touring during the winter and spring. The area that most people head to is the Northwest bowl with a nice gully feature leading all the way to the summit. After a 5 kilometre approach up the Lyngsdalen valley it is a mellow slope the rest of the way.
Last Turns of the Season
Being Late May it was time for me to head back to Finland. David had the day off and was wondering if I wanted to go out on one final ski tour up Daltinden. While I had heard of the peak many times I had never rode it before.
After driving 30 minutes from Lyngsedeit we were ski touring up the Lyngsdalen valley and heading up to the peak. Being late spring it was soft corn snow as we skinned up to the summit a switchback at a time.
The day was cloudy so we didn’t hang around the summit long. We still had a long exit and it was looking like it was going to rain.
After riding down to the base I could see why people liked Daltinden. It has a good slope angle from top to bottom and was a nice way to end the season.
