With a certain virus traveling around the world borders have been shut down. When spring arrived I found myself isolated in Finland and unable to head North on my seasonal migration. Once the borders finally officially opened I was one of the first cars traveling across the border to get my Summer turns in the Lyngen Alps of Norway.
Lyngen Alps of Norway
Over the years I’ve been able to explore the Lyngen Alps of Norway with mountains climbing 4,000 feet out of the sea and a small road that runs along most of the range it offers access to any type of terrain and aspect and isolation that you could ask for. But the true beauty of the place is how being in the Northern Arctic at 69 degrees changes everything. From low angle sun not affect snow to constant slush from the Midnight sun its a wild transition. From day trips to two week traverses, from 4,000 foot couloirs to the sea to open glacial slopes with the expanse of the Arctic sea surrounding you. The Lyngen Alps of Norway offer a good bit of everything to everyone.
