After coming back from Rogers Pass the snowpack was still poor and there was no snow in the foretasted future so Jason Hummel and I decided to go to Outdoor Retailer in Salt Lake City and do some side trips on the way back.
Our first destination of the trip was out to Wyoming where we drove out to a place called Teton Pass.
It was mid January with spring like conditions so Jason Hummel and I followed a bootpack up to the top of the nearest mountain.
and took in the Views of the Wyoming Deserts.
The run down wasn’t the best but we could see how it would be awesome in safe avalanche conditions.
But the best thing was that it went right back to the road a mile down from our car.
That night I cooked up some home flavored bacon and got some rest before explore Teton National Park.
The next morning we pretty much woke up to this.
And in front of our eyes the Grand Teton was going off.
The temperatures were almost unbearable in the shade as we looked forward to getting into the sunshine.
Our original intention was to ride Mount Buck in the middle of the photo.
But the weather made the decision for us.
So instead of getting gnarly we stayed in some low angle trees.
Then it was back to the Hotel
The last morning in Jackson we made our way to Jackson Hole ski resort
Where we met up with Jamie Weeks from Exum Guides and Nigel Steere from K2 and we checked out the gate accessed backcountry.
The snow was good but the light was flat as we did a high traverse.
A product shot for K2 with Nigel Traversing.
Over the years I have learned that patients is key and after a good 40 minutes the clouds cleared for a few second.
We had a blast but it was time to get back on the road and head north to Montana.
